I finally got my Hi-point 995 the other day.
Spent about 4hrs tearing down and figuring out all the guts (it only took that long because I detail stripped it, then realized I didn't know how to put it back together :p).
And took it out to the range yesterday.

My first impression is that it's really really is fugly, but it feels solid and works as it's designed to. Trigger feels a bit sluggish but not too terrible, the finish is nothing to brag about, and the mag can be kinda annoying; but, nothing that I can't really overlook. I fed it 50 rounds of Independence and 90 rounds of WWB and it gnawed through all of it without a hiccup. I ordered 2 more mags for it yesterday and I think I'm going to ATI stock next month or so. Overall a pretty good range toy for under 200. :D

Hi-Point Firearms???

Ugly? Oh, yeah. How about pig-butt-stuck-in-a-mud-fence ugly?

Reliable? Goes Bang! every time, or Hi-Point fixes it free

Accurate? Puts the lead where you aim.

What more can you ask from a sub-$250 pistol-cal carbine? You can also buy a scope or laser direct from Hi-Point.

Do I own one? No, waiting for Hi-Point to release their .45ACP Carbine. Then I WILL own a Hi-Point. Have shot most of their models in both pistol and carbine thanks to my shooting budds. {The Cheap Galoots}

Reason I am waiting for the .45ACP model is I don't currently own anything in 9MM or .40, and I don't want to stock another cal of ammo.

I've got one, it's currently my only rifle. I like it a lot. Ugly, yeah, but I don't want the ATI stock. I would recommend a speedloader for the mag, at least personally because of the size of my fingers it hurts like heck to load more than 50 rounds.

I took it out with a friend with the iron sights and we put 90% of the lead on COM at 80 yds. I've got a BSA red dot sight on it now because it does HD duty and I couldn't make the iron sights work in low light. It's so fast with the red dot sights, I really like them, what with the parallax adjustment and all.

I have had my Hi-Point for a few months now and it is definatly not the best looking weapon in the gun safe. The trigger will get better after about 200 or 300 hundred rounds. I have put about 3000 or 4000 rounds through it and it has not had any problems. I would say that it is a great purchase

I love my 995

I have said this several times. I love my 995. Ugly as sin, but she goes bang every time.

Anyone have tips on a scope and mount? I bought mine second hand, so no mount.....

I bought and subsequently gave away a 995 to a friend who had nothing for home defense. I miss that little gun, but I'll probably buy another when they start selling a .45acp version.

I bought mine used at a gun show with the ATI stock on it ($150!). I like the looks and ergonomics a lot better than the factory stock, but it has a lot of extraction problems. By a lot, I mean one every 20-30 rounds or so. Will HP give me any problems with fixing it because of the stock? I have the original one also... somewhere...

I haven't really looked into it because I haven't tried other brands of ammo to see if that's the problem. I've shot about 200 rounds through it, all Winchester White Box. It came with something like five magazines so I don't think that's the problem. There is one ProMag that's a total piece of junk. Feed problems on EVERY round with it...

I finally got my Hi-point 995 the other day.

CONGRATS! I just sold mine. It was really fun, reliable, and shot straight. A guy at the last Gun Show got it for $140 hope he has just as much fun with it. When I first got it I only had a SKS and some bolt action rifles. I now have a M4 and an AK and didn't need the 9mm carbine anymore as the M4 is just about as small holds 30 more powerful accurate rounds yada yada.

You'll have lots of cheap plinking fun with it!

I love my Hi Point 995. It has never failed to feed, fire or eject. It shoots accurately enough for self defense or plinking out to 75 yards or so. It might even do better for a more apt shooter. All in all, it looks flat out goofy, but it's a very serious piece of shootin' iron.

Hi-point is coming out with a tactical stock for the 995 and 4095. Should be here by summer. It may look something like this.

If you are looking for a mount check there website I am using the one it came with. If you are looking for a cheap red dot take a look at Tru-Glo they make a 2x red dot for about 90 dollars that is what is on mine and it works great. Enjoy your new purchase. Any word on if the new stock will work on the 40SW and how much it will cost?

Instead of playing with Tacticool Stocks they should be working up a model to handle a commonly available high capacity pistol mag S&W, Barfetta, Glock, CZ& clones, Even Ruger. I would rather have that option than a "prettier" stock.

Or they should spend their time working on a .45ACP that takes 1911 mags.

I don't have much experience with hi-points, but people usually say they are reasonably accurate and reliable...

Why do they have to make them so darn ugly?
