what's with these fuzzy trees?

Now I might be mistaken but I am pretty sure that is a buck rub. I usually see the trees with the bark rubbed right off. But there is one cedar tree right next to my stand that has the same fuzzyness. It wasn't there one weekend then it was there the next.

I found a couple of rubs like that this year in my general hunting area, but they come few and far between.

thats bark fungus. You should cut it down and burn it before it spreads to other trees.

Your shotgun stock probably contracted it also.

I saw a rub like that on TVA land near Guntersville Dam. Lots of droppings too. Too bad there are no firearms allowed close to that dam. I need to get a bow for next year...

If I found a rub like that I don't think I'd come home until I had one hell of a Deer.

The rubs around here arn't anywhere near that. One side of a tree and only 12" in length at the most. Looks like he's been shaving that tree for a while.
