Hey Mec, where did you get the hollowbased bullets you show with that reproduction Walker in another post?
Those look like just the ticket for long range shooting. You note that they weigh 230 gr. Clearly, they're made for cap and ball revolvers because they have a heel for easy loading.
I seem to recall that Lee once offered its .44 cap and ball revolver mould in hollowpoint or hollowbase. Am I imagining this? I know that Lee doesn't now; I"ve checked.
Anyway, I'd be interested to learn where you got those bullets, or the mould to produce them.
And by the way, you stinker .... :scrutiny: now you've got ME wanting a Walker or a Dragoon. I can't decide which: the Walker with its history but failings, or the Dragoon with its slightly reduced powder capacity but better functioning.
Sometimes I wonder if Ol' Scratch doesn't sit on his throne of burning coals and grin at the lusts of those "tetched" by the Holy Black.

Well, I've heard that the Mephetic One sends his tiniest minions to sit astride the balls and guide the astray. Fortunately, the rifling spin unseats them.

that bullet (picture posted under your post at sixgunner forum) was made up by a guy for his Walker or Dragoon. I'm not sure where he started- seems like it was another bullet and he had is machined out in various manners and fitted with the standard hollow base plug. Haven't used many of them but we did try them in a converted Webley and the Dragoon. The are about .457 and seat hard and the best we could do was five to six inches at 60 feet. It probably deserves some more work but we haven't done much with it. They might manage easier run through a .454 sizing die.

Same here, Not that I need either but, I'm torn between a Walker and a 3rd model Dragoon from Uberti. I suspect if I do either, it will be the Dragoon. Both of them hang real steady out there on the end of your arm and the extra hugeness of them seems to let them cycle spent caps very well.

I notice Pedersoli makes a mould specifically for the Walker. It is probably for display purposes as they warn with their other replica moulds but I wonder if it is true to the original form. I've had a bit of luck with replica mould bullets in my Pietta .36-mainly because my chambers are a little undersized. Also with the 60 grain bullets in my Wells Fargo- balls shoot better but I really cant hit well enough with it to tell the difference.
