Armed girl wounded in botched heist at video store

A 16-year-old girl is in the hospital after being shot during a botched robbery at a video store.

Police said the girl demanded cash from the register while pointing a small-caliber handgun at a Hollywood Video clerk and three patrons Monday night.

The Arizona Republic is not identifying her because she is a juvenile.

Witnesses told police that one of the customers, who had a concealed-weapons permit, fired several rounds when the girl pointed a gun at him. She was struck twice and fled the store at 1950 W. Indian School Road.

Police said the girl got into a white Honda and was driven to an apartment in the 4300 block of North 19th Avenue, where a resident called 911 for help.

She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center for non-life-threatening wounds. On Tuesday, the girl was booked into the jail ward at Maricopa Medical Center on suspicion of armed robbery and four counts of aggravated assault.

Authorities want to speak with Donyetta Braxton, 24, whom police consider an investigative lead. She was last seen driving a white Honda Del Sol. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

Too bad she survived.

I think it is stupid that becuase she is 16 the media won't ID her.

Drop the curtain, and shame the kids who commit crimes. They should be afforded no protection, nor mercy solely because of their age.

Hard Core?

Re-read the post she was attempting a robbery;was shot while threatening
the one who shot her!
Could have gone either way, heh?
"the gun made her a man" one of my favorite Bronson mis quotes

Anyone pointing a gun is fair game.

A sociopathic kid wouldn't think twice about ending the life of everyone in
that video store in order to get what they want.

Good on the shooter.

Of course you know the Brady Blood Bathers will tally this one up as a gun violence against children statistic.

Yet another innocent child wounded because of rampant vigiantalism.

Why-o-why couldn't they just call 911?

Question:

Would you shoot her if you were in the store, but she wasn't pointing the gun at you (but someone else)?

Discuss.

Yes, if I was able to get good position on her and could make the shot without endangering someone else.

Only to save my life or that of another?
Or is this a trick question as "would you shoot her just to protect a video or
the money in the tender?" This is disengenous the shot wouldn't be made to
protect any but the innocent being subjected to armed robbery. The proper querry would be"Why would the desire to subject citizens to armed robbery be
appropriate 'just for money, goods?'" The first being morally and
intellectually bankrupt;the second places the onus where it duly belongs.

For clarification... forget the cash and the lastest Disney DVD. I'm talking about if she is threatening lives (which she is if she is pointing her gun at people).

Probably not. Too much potential for a law suit or arrest. But then again, I don't know how I will react to a specific situation until said situation happens.

hell yes, two in the chest/back and one in the head, perfectly legal, your protecting others lives, i.e. the clerk, I don't descriminate in anything age, race, color, creed, relegion, if your threatening others your going down. like GSTG Hartman said "I do not look down on n***ers, kikes, wops or greasers. Here you are all equally worthless."

Hopefully a hard lesson learned. Anyone around you could be armed, why risk being shot for a few dollars? And yes, in that situation, as much as I don't want to do it, BANG BANG.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I'm rather pleased she wasn't killed. She is so young, and still has time to change. Perhaps this will be the catalyst she needs to turn her life around.

In all honesty, I've never had to hurt a woman in my life. I might hesitate to shoot a young girl if she wasn't drawing down on me or mine. Smart? Likely not, but a possibility I have to consider. Hmmmm...

 The "girl" is sixteen years old. She points a gun at me, and I'm shooting.

I doesn't matter whether the person aiming the gun at you is six or ninety....the press of the trigger means YOU are dead. I'm not ready to be dead just yet.....
