I held my annual shoot today 3/18/23
We were blessed with unpredictable Illinois weather. 30 degrees and West wind gusting to 30mph with occasional flurries.....
I thought about pulling a semi and hopper bottom trailer up to the shed and using it as a windbreak, but it was still going to be miserable and windy enough to blow tour hat off.
I made the executive decision to move some stuff around inside the heated shed and shoot out my two windows that face the open field(rifle range) to the east.
We only had seven shooters this time probably because of the crappy weather.
We made the best of it by staying inside and shooting out the windows.
I stapled some flashcards up to contain any sparks from our flinters.
It was pretty slow paced since we were only shooting two at a time, so we limited our shots to three per target.
It took us about three hours to shoot three targets each. We had the TV on and had a youtube video of Alaskan hunting tuned in.
Mrs F made ham and beans and a big skillet of cornbread for us after we shot.
I had bought three new tomahawks and presented them to the first, second, and third place winners scored on the sum of the three targets combined.
A good time was had by all. We hope for better weather next year.
