1911 caliber conversion question

This may be a dumb question, but I have asked dumb questions before so not new territory. Can a 45ACP 1911 be converted to 38 Super, with a barrel change, of course?

No as the breechface is different.

No, the breech face is too large, the extractor will be too far out from center, as well as the ejector.

Nope, but I converted a 9mm to 38 Super, turned out really well.
Was a RIA GI 9mm. Did a whole slide replacement and added a bunch of new Wilson Combat lower parts as well.

Recall an article in one of the gun mags years ago, the writer said converting a 38 Super to 9MM (and vice versa) only required a magazine and barrel.

As was pointed out. the position of the ejector determines what calibers can be interchanged. Occurs to me, with the right barrels and magazines one could have a 10MM Auto/.357 SIG/40 S&W combo.

Nope, but I converted a 9mm to 38 Super, turned out really well.

I usually do it the other way around; I start with a .38 Super then just add a complete 9mm. barrel assembly to it. Also I like to use 9mm. mags with the spacer in the back of the mag for it.
