What would your thoughts be on which one is better? I can't decide between an x-bolt medallion, or x-bolt hells canyon. I would be shooting deer from 10-500 yards with most under 300. I wouldn't carry the rifle more than a few miles a day. What is your opinion?

Edit: how much do I have to worry about the medallion rusting with the bluing instead of cerakote?

The Medallion is a high polish-high gloss rifle. I had one in .338 Win Mag that was absolutely beautiful to look at. I would have hated to ding that stock on a hunt, so it was a range toy until I sold it.

The synthetic stocked and cerakoted Hells Canyon rifle, IMHO, is more of a hunting machine. I would personally go that route if choosing a pure hunting rig between those two Brownings. :)

Stay safe.

I would personally go for the medallion at this point, But the Hell's canyon would be a pretty nice hunting rifle.
Admittedly I've never actually gotten my hands on a hells canyon.
I've shot a number of different x bolts including a couple of Midas, and owned a X-Bolt SLR. None of them were noticeably more accurate than the others.

I have the X-bolt Long Range Pro, burnt bronze, in 300wm. If you're not hung up on the camo stock of the Hells Canyon, they're basically the same gun at those distances. Very happy with mine.

There are currently AAAA maple stocked shot show 20-21 examples around. I would get a wood stock x-bolt. If I wanted plastic I'd get a Ruger American or Tikka T3X.

I'm acquiring browning shot guns at the moment, but I'll have an X-Bolt to hunt with some day.

Which one do you want?

I like nice bluing and wood, and I'm not afraid to get it scratched up.

My two most carried handguns are blued and wood. The handgun used most in IDPA is blued and wood as well.

If you're gonna be gunshy about getting it scuffed up, go with the Hell's Canyon. Or, if you just prefer the look of the Hell's Canyon go with it.

Medallion imo. They are beautiful rifles. You're paying for the fit and finish.

With the Hells Canyon, I don't see the benefit other over significantly cheaper synthetic stocked rifles. Some of which are better performers.

I have never been a fan of tikka due to an accidental discharge while loading because you have to have the saftey off by someone I know, which could happen from a bush next to where I may load the gun in the dark. Ruger americans are very overrated imo, I have owned one and it was as accurate as needed but no more and I wasn't impressed with anything. Great for the cost but I have a much higher budget. Just my opinion.

I have a blued, synthetic stocked X-Bolt in 7 mag. It was a shot show special from some years back. I’ve only had it to the range twice. Both times it shot three shot sub 1/2” with Berger Match Hunter bullets

I bought a synthetic stocked X-bolt, the stock got sticky and started to peel, so after I got it back from Browning, I put the rifle into a Boyd’s wood stock. If they haven’t solved the synthetic stock issues, go with the wood stock up front.

My SLR was hard plastic with no soft over coat, not sure what the camo HCs are, but havent heard a complaint about the coating melting in a while.
