What did you shoot today?

49 rounds of 45 ACP through my Kimber Rapide this morning.

Was a bit upset finding the range that I care for with un-authorized "targets" shot up.

Fired 7 mags X 7 times as fast as I could at 7 yards.
Groups improved through the volley.

Felt better after cleaning up the place and then taking my anger out on a 6 inch paper plate.

Well, the MD cancelled my appointment, he was called to the hospital for an acute case.
So I am going shooting. Watch this space.

Uppercut .22 Defensive
M&P C 1003 fps 71 ft lb
Pathfinder 3" 927 fps 61 ft lb
M18 4" 962 fps 65 ft lb.

Started out good, first magazine in auto good, revolvers fired and extracted easily.
But second magazine in auto misfunctioned at the very start.

Punch is the only gimmick round that is ok in that gun, Silvertip, Stinger, and Uppercut not.
If I were to carry that M&P C, it would be with MiniMags while I tested more Velocitors.

The Uppercut is the easiest to extract from a revolver, should you have to make a hasty reload.

Resprung 9mm magazines fed ok, even with SWC.

Took my dad to shooting club that I’m a member of this afternoon for a little pistol shooting, had a good time, it was a beautiful day.

After we were done shooting pistol, I went over to the rifle range to test some loads I made for the 6.5CM.

My measurements say .255in 3 shot groups at 100 yards.

Pretty happy with the results, now to see how they shoot at 300 yards. :)

My barrel is 3" shorter than the typical barrel in this image, because 'they tell me that' around 2003 nice Austrian Stg kits were only $150 (!), and plenty of barrels were shortened. Mine is an Austrian StG (kit) on Imbel; tried out today for a second time using just 30 rds. It was assembled by one of the US' best FAL gun smiths in 2003, then stored by the owner.
The ribbed metal Austrian hand guards did Not get too hot to hold (despite being 84* F.).

Why not very hot? I really spread out my shots mostly because of today's ammo prices. But-- today's "high" prices are Pre-(next) Panic prices;).

A friend has a couple, one full bull with bipod, weighs a ton. Another cut back to carbine length. He hasn't shot them recently, the novelty has worn off.

I shot some powder puff 9mms to assist a guy on TFL with mild ammo for students.

Shot the Kimber Rapide again today.
Got a bit more serious than on Monday. 8 mags of seven, but at a much slower pace.
I lost 2 pieces of brass.
I like to use my tailgate to keep "Track".
One can see my cheap $0.03 six inch paper plate target under the pistol.
Shot at 7 to 10 yards.
Still not good enough to post a target picture.

Maybe it was the coffee.................. 🤪

Got to the range today to function test and sight in the latest AR build: a 12-inch 6.5 Grendel pistol built on a stripped PSA lower. The Strike Industries short pistol tube and buffer kept the OAL just under 26 inches. First up was to get the Midwest Industries backup sights sighted in. I got the windage sorted easily, but will need to adjust the front sight for elevation. Then got the Aimport CompML2 zeroed at 50 yards. From the rest, I was able to hold about two inches at 50. Gun ran great with several different Duramags.

I used a Brass Goat without a hopper and it dropped the brass on the bench or at my feet; didn't lose a single piece. The Garmin Xero worked like a champ, picking up every shot from the rest; it missed a couple when I moved away from the bench to shoot unsupported. The 123 grain Hornady Black averaged 2,238 fps; not bad from a 12-inch barrel. I'm very pleased with the results.
