i was down at Cabela's today and I had a chance to give a Walther CCP the once over. This one had a really gritty trigger with a very vague reset. I was not impressed!

My question for anyone familiar with these, did I sample a bad one or does the trigger on a CCP get smoother with use? I wouldn't consider trying much less buying this one with such a subpar trigger!

Wasn't at the Cabela's in Green Bay was it? They had one in SS, love the feel of it in the hand, but I'm unfortunately not too trusting of the design/quality of the CCP.

This one had a somewhat gritty trigger too but it did have a crisp break. For a self defense gun I really don't care about that or the reset.

Why wouldn't you care about reset on a SD gun? You might need to get several shots off quickly and accurately.

The ones I've handled had pretty bad triggers too.

If you go to the Walther Forum site and look under the CCP heading, there's a lot of chatter, mostly negative, about their new gun.

Guess I've fired enough rounds through DAK triggered Sigs as well as other DAO pistols to know I can pull a trigger quick if needed.

No, this was in Newark, DE. I don't want a light trigger on an EDC piece, but I do want a smooth trigger on any gun in my range bag. I did look at reviews of the CCP on other forums and there is not much love for the triggers on these. I'll just have to pass on it!

I was most disappointed by the size and weight -- a bit larger than the PPS and about as heavy empty as an empty Glock 26.

The Walther PPS is smaller than the Walther CCP. The Walther PPS is lighter than the Walther CCP, the Walther PPS has a much better trigger than the Walther CCP and the Walther PPS is actually made by Walther.

Saw a print ad for the CCP yesterday in a gun rag. It made a big pitch about the legendary Walther of new the CCP. So once you size up the CCP as a piece of flotsam, why would anybody take Walther's other current offerings seriously? Walther needs damage control, and they need it now. Take the CCP off the shelf. It's a good idea, but they've blown it.

I think the Walther PPQ M1/M2's have really good triggers, which is why the CCP was such a disappointment
