New hunting vehicle, need firearm mount advice

I guess it's just the cheap in me.
10 grand!!
Back in my day 10 grand would buy you a good used 4x4 truck. Primers were 20.00 a thousand.....LOL
I'm sure that is going to be a whole bunch of fun. Post some pics when you got a deer or two in the bed.

As I used to say in the pawnbroker business, “cool stuff costs a lot”

I never thought I would want an ATV for my 30 acres but as I become more interested in habitat development it is becoming a real option.

There is a Cushman/EZgo dealer not far away who takes trade ins from golf courses. $800 for a gas utility cart that is ragged out. As luck would have it, I have a ton of experience working on Cushman gas utility carts. There is one in my future.

I didn't either think I needed an ATV either, but plowing, wood cutting, land management, and of course hunting for my 130 acres it started to make more sense. I hope you found what your needing @Ks5shooter?

I got a Cam-Am in December. Haven’t found a mount just yet, but got lots of ideas here. Was thinking a front mount so I can keep an eye on it.

I liked a Koplin when I had an ATV and then I mounted one on a sporty street bike for a short while (ninja zx6 maybe, i had a few bikes at that juncture of life). I still have the case, and when I build my 73 sportster I will mount it on there. The key to a koplin case is to make it easily removable. A big hard case is great when you want to carry a long gun, but it gets in the way in a hurry if you’re doing anything else. Spring clips from TSC (D shaped where you close the bail over the end of the pin) makes that quick and easy. I carried a revolver if I wasn’t expecting to need a rifle or shotgun.

I have to figure out how to carry a rifle or rifles better in or on the 4x4. What I've done for the last few seasons is to put the rifle in a thick, padded Boyt gun case and kept it in the cargo area of the 4x4. If I backpack hunt, that's fine. If I'm in and out of the 4x4 more often, then it's no good because I have to open and close doors, it takes too long and makes too much noise.

My rifle is a bit long to mount inside. I think it's almost 48". The 4x4 has had at least 3 people in the 4 seats, so putting big, long rifles in there too doesn't work out. I want to put the folding Mini-14 in there, but not the long gun(s).

So I was thinking about a Koplin on the outside. I could put in along the side of the roof rack, but that's pretty high to reach. I could put it on top of the roof rack and climb the ladder to get it. I could put it on the hood or on the front bumper.

I'm anticipating the 4x4 will empty out after the boys start college, can't pull junior tags anymore, and have other things to do. This is the last year for one's junior tags and next year will be the other's. So that's coming soon. Then I might prefer to have the gun inside. I'm not sure how to mount it so that it would be easy to get in and out. I think it would have to be some kind of lateral mount so I can pull it straight out the open door. Ideally, it would come out the driver's door with me so I don't have to open another.

This guy's got it pretty well worked out. I'd just need a driver to get me around, and maybe some more dogs.
