According to the web site the HP-DA & the HP-DA Compact come in 9mm only but another link on the same site says that they are also available in .40S&W.

Does anyone know for sure if a .40S&W model is available?

Second question, it says that the magazine limit on the compact model is 10 rounds of 9mm. Is that because of the 10-round law or is that the physical limit independent of the law?

Final question, if they available in .40S&W, does anyone know what the magazine limit on that would be for both the HP-DA and the HP-DA Compact?

Thanks in advance.

I wanted a little HP to match my little CZ so I got a HP DAc with nights.
Felt great, accurate as hell, perfect size but the trigger stacked to about 20#'s before it broke...my Keltec P11 has a MUCH better trigger and its DAO.

For the mag questions..the DA's take a different mag than std BHP's do.
They are only available in the states in 10 rnds mags...as far as I know anyway.

The 40 was being developed for LEA's from what I heard from the FN guys I used to deal with..but given the guns lack luster sales...I SERIOUSLY doubt it will be made in 40.....they have plans to discontinue the guns soon.

IMO, if FN hadnt OVERENGINEERED the stupid Firing Pin Block on the gun to ruin the trigger pull it would be selling like crazy..........Oh Well.......

The trigger was the same on 3 others I tried as it was on my gun.........

Heres a pic comparing the CZ PCR, Taurus PT911 and the HP DA c

Shoot well.

Hello,

I have the DA compact. With 2000 + rounds it has never failed. The double action is heavy but that is the safety after all. The single action has improved greatly after 500 rounds and the trigger breaks like my CZ compact after take up.
The mags do not look factory modified to hold less rounds and are of high quality with the finger rest making a perfect grip for me.
The gun is very accurate, has a tough, tough finish and is world class. I have really enjoyed mine and if they do make a .40 it will increase 9mm capacity by 4 or 5 rounds when the mags are available, assuming they too will hold 10 rounds. Then you will have a great little carry gun.
