    Dry Firing a 1911

Have a friend that tried IDPA and said he didn't like the idea of dropping the hammer on an empty chamber because it could elongate the firing pin causing it to go full auto. I am always in favor of using snap caps when doing a very high volumn of dry firing, but I would think that 6-10 dry...

    Hevi-Shot Defensive Load?

Hevi-Shot has come out with a load they call “Dead Coyote”. Because the shot is heavier than lead, I can understand that it will penetrate better than lead and certainly better than steel, but just how much more? Supposedly the “T” shot (20 caliber) will go completely through a gooses body at...

    WTS - Tape Collection

I have for some time now been acquiring various firearm and self defense related VHS videos and a few DVDs. I have a total of 87, with 48 of the titles shown below. 6.8 vs 7.62x39

Is the new 6.8 round the military is looking at a better cartridge than the 7.62x39? I heard that Ruger will be offering the Mini in 6.8, and they already offer the rifle in 7.62x39. So would it be a step up or just something between the 7.62x39 and 5.56? Thanks

    Who makes the hardest primers

I am adjusting the spring tension on a S&W revolver and want to make sure it is still strong enought to set off hard primers. Who makes the hardest primers in factory ammo? I figure if it sets off these, then anything else will not be a problem. Thanks - TEX

Taurus Model 85 cylinder rod problem?

I recently purchased a used Taurus 85 revolver 2" 38. In good shape but very dirty and gritty. I have managed to take every thing apart but the cylinder rod that runs through the center of the cylinder. I assumed it was like a S&W, and reverse threaded, but it won't seem to budge. I heated...

    Outstanding Book - Must Read

HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION FOR FFL OR ATF LURKER

Years ago (1985-1990) I knew two gentlemen that were in the situation described below. They handled it (several times) by simply Fedex-ing the items back and forth labeled as machined parts. I told them it was a bad idea, but lost touch with them quite some time ago and so don’t know if it ever...

    M&P in IDPA

Because my Glock 23 with a stippled grip (dimensions still the same) was moved from SSP to ESP with the rule change, I have been looking for a SSP to compete with. I figured I would just get a Glock 19 and be done with it. However I looked at one of the S&W M&Ps and was really impressed even...
