Not yet Sir. I hope to be able to hit the range early tomorrow morning for a function check, at least. I run a lot of 115 grain and I’m confident it’s going to work with those; but I also want to make sure it’ll run with NATO spec and 147 grain ammo too, without being beaten up.
Good job! I LOVE H&Rs. I grew up 20 miles from the factory and, at 4 years old, a 999 was the first handgun I ever held and shot. I inherited two 999s from the 30s and 40s and I will never ever let them go. Yours is GREAT!
Haha! Thanks Guys. This is why I love this forum - lots of experienced shooters weighing in objectively without fear or favor. For whatever reason, I love the way the USP feels though I can understand how others may feel it’s a brick. I find it to be extremely accurate so I am fascinated as to...
Thanks Tarosean:
I ended up doing the same. I have a set of DP’s red fiber optic front and blacked-out rear on my CZ P-09 and the sight picture is excellent. I ordered the same for the HK. They’re coming on Monday.
No dispute Cowboy! Buy I have resolved to fix the DA malady you illuminate. The DA on mine’s admittedly and unsurprisingly heavy, but it’s smooooooth and will be remedied. It’s worth it. :)
I too am interested in knowing what’s out there right now for factory comped pistols. Not the Sandhawk/Firehawk, variety but the $1k and under polymer pistols as the OP addresses. At first blush it would seem that the Canik TTi would be a good place to start ?
I’m a niche guy, living a niche life. .44 will always be a part of that life, until that life is no more. I love the caliber; I love loading for it and shooting it. I love the handguns and rifles I have chambered for it.
I decided to install the Overwatch trigger instead of the HB based on a slight preference for trigger feel. Both triggers have a flat face but the Overwatch just feels a little better contoured. Oddly, I didn’t find the paired striker to improve the trigger pull. Having tried several...
A few data points from one data point (me).
I tried the performance trigger in my G17.5; There wasn’t enough of a difference to make a difference, to quote a famous gun YouTuber.
I put the Ghost 3.0 connectors in my G17.5, 20.5, 21.5 with a very modest improvement, maybe 10% better than...
Got the HB trigger and reduced power striker springs, the Overwatch trigger and striker, a reduced power recoil spring and ss guide rod from CGW, and the optic plate for my spare Leupold DPP. Lots of parts to play with tomorrow!
I’ve been gravitating to longer barreled 9mms for target shooting and plates (I’m not a competitor, just an old guy who shoots a metric ton of ammo). I too find better balance with the 5” to 5.5” barrels, along with better recoil control and firing cadence. I’m not sure that switching to a G34...
Glad you like the G34 Red Rick. If I had to do it all over again, I’d have chosen the G34 over the G17.5. Right now my new-to-me PDP Pro 5” is outshooting my Glock 17. I think the mechanical accuracy is pretty much the same but for me, the PDP trigger makes accurate hits easier. I put the...
Quick update with the Sprinco yellow spring: no-go with 115 grain ball; numerous failures to eject. 115 works without the micro comp but ejection is a dribble. 124 grain works with the comp on and it’s a good setup for recoil control and muzzle flip. BUT ejection is still dribbly. Ordered the...
