I've been doing my own for over 50 years with no special tools. I bore sight bolt actions by removing the bolt and looking down the bore. Anything else I just start from scratch.

My standard load is 90 grains. It shoots a little high at 25 yards.

My 54 shoots about 4 inches low at 25 yards with 40 grains.

Looks like I was mistaken. They changed over in 2019. I would have sworn it was 2015. I guess that's what I get for relying on memory.

I had a Uberti dragoon made in 2013 with the letters on the frame as usual but they put the date under the trigger guard. I'm not sure what they did in 2014 but I'm pretty sure it was all numerical in 2015. I'm not sure when Pietta started doing it but it was around the same time period.

Yeah the sheath really needs a better knife. That's the first knife I ever made and the first time I hafted one with antler and I really didn't know what I was doing with either one but it works well for it's purpose. I have gotten better with hafting. 😁

Not only that but if you overtighten grips they can split.

It might. It's worth a try. If it will tighten down tight it will be good to go but just snugging it up with weak threads is a no go.
