    Inexpensive O/U

Shooting trap twice a month is a form of competition.

    Inexpensive O/U

I am on the second firing pin on my 1975 870TB I bought in’75 and have shot every week since then. Plus hunting deer, ducks, and upland game.

    Inexpensive O/U

Some real world examples bought in the last two years. Browning Superposed, 30", i.M and Full. $800. Remington 3200'Trao, 30", same chokes, $1000. Beretta 686 Essential (plain but with tubes, selective trigger, ejectors. $750. Stay away from several Turk guns like the $500-600 Huglu and...

    What did you shoot today?

One round of trap with some of the kids my son and I coach at the local high school. Then patterned a Cutts equipped 1100 barrel with the super full tube. Wow! Got my turkey gun.

Have you purchased anything gun related in the last three days?

A FCD for 30-30, a bag of figure 8 wads and the book, Hunter, by JA Hunter.

    Are 44 Revolvers Dying?

Certainly not in my family and friends group. I have 5 44 mags and 2 specials and my boys have at least one each. Regardless of what the cognoscenti say, the 45 Colt hasn’t put it to rest and only one in a thousand can handle the 454. 29-2, Super Blackhawk, 94 Marlin, 94 Win, CVA Scout, 624...

    Taurus 445 44spl

I picked up a 431 a couple years ago. Stainless. Not even close to my 624 but I can take it places I wouldn’t want where it might get scratched up. Or lost. Bushwhacking along and in my creek. Taurus has been pretty good in the bigger revolvers, other than the Judge with their grossly...

    A new monopoly?

.28/gal, .23 for lucky strikes my senior year and .17 gas and ..16 butts in St Louis where I went to work.

    A new monopoly?

Don’t care who owns what. $325 or more for an 8 pound jug of powder is still obscene.

    Brownells Moly Bore Paste

Not for this old boy. I shot some moly coated bullets out ofmy700 222 years back and it took forever to get old Lucy back to shooting subMOA. Judicious use of JB as a matter of fact.

    Largest caliber you own?

Couple of 45-70s and a 58 cal rifle/musket. Nothing really big. But more than enough for my Illinois "plains game".

Palmetto State Armory Model 570 Shotgun

No offense but that I butt ugly. I can see the utility but, being an old luddite, I prefer blue steel and walnut, maybe with an extended mag and stock sleeve. Like my 870 Police with corncob forend.

Close together hammer spurs on a double

Savage/Stevens had an over/under 410 that had the two hammers close together. Model 242, I believe.

    6mm creedmore

I'd be afraid my many 243 and 308 shooting buddies might make fun of me. lol

    Suppose I wanted to reload .410 shells…

I did make a dozen everlasting 410 shells out of 444 Marlin brass. First shot fireformed them. I’ve lost my load book in the recent move but know that it included large rifle primer, .410 plastic wad, Unique, and a glued on top wad of milk carton cardboard. For my Contender. Others have used...

    Wednesday night Casual

Sneaking up on 80 and my hands and wrists are done with full power magnums except for 357. I load my 44 to 1100, my 45 Colt to 1050-1100, and more often than not reach for a carbine or single shot if I just have to shoot full bore. I often carry a Kimber Pro Carry with 255 grain semi wadcutters...
