Just one quick point of fact. In Africa a “guide” is a non hunting, usually a photo person. A professional hunter is what we call a hunting guide.
They are two separate licenses though some hold both. A “guide” in African speak cannot conduct hunting and vice versa.
Totally possible,
Do you have any idea what you’d like to hunt and where you’d like to do it?
South Africa will be the most “civilized” and modern. To much so in my opinion. Most of the hunting is done on high fenced properties in the RSA.

Your dad had double rifles chambered in .416 Rigby, .458 Lott and .505 Gibbs?
I know there have been several doubles produced in .416 Rigby and .458 Lott but they aren’t the best choice of calibers in a double due to being high pressure and rimless. I’ve never personally heard of a double...

There is a huge point that’s been missed in this thread. That is the investment value and asset appreciation of the right firearm. If you’d have bought all the high quality British doubles you could have 40 years ago and stored them. You’d have handily beaten the stock market in valuation of...

The heat required to kill a prion is hot enough that your meat will be ashes before the prion is destroyed. A prion is a protein not a virus, fungus or bacteria.
I figured that maybe Flaw Ice was a thing not a mistake! I’d never heard that term before, I’m very familiar with most of the other ice you were talking about.
Point hope was always a weather challenge!
Yeah I’m guessing auto correct turned floe into flaw but you never know with the locals up there they got lots of words for snow and ice. I’m familiar with ice floes. I flew off the polar ice for several years.
The local language is very descriptive with ice and snow conditions. Chip...
