Well. Labor Day say cheap psa purchase, turned full upper build and seperate lower is complete…
Still have the psa faux dissy gonna be dropped off Thursday. So gotta figure out something to do with it.
BCM blem upper. (Holy crap this was the tightest upper I’ve ever had to install a barrel on. Not sure if it was just thick finish or that was the blem part. But this barrel is never coming off)
Del-ton dissipator barrel(not thrilled about the 1-9tw, but it should run the 75s I load well enough for iron sights and me.)
MI two piece drop in mlok
Battle arms bcg
Super 42 spring and their h2 buffer
Sharps Bros livewire lower.
Reptilia grip
BCM MOD 0 widebody
Daniel defense rear fixed iron(it’s even turned the correct way now…😬)
Bcm mod 2 blem comp
Need to order a griffin short 3 prong so I can run the can on it.
Have a Magpul sling sitting.
Have a mbt-2s on the way
Need to find a decent light for it too

It escalated quickly

Looks good, think itll run ok without the suppressor? True dissies dont usually do too well with a GI fsb.....which is why PSA makes the fake ones. Should be just the thing for a small can, though. 👍
I was thinking about grabbing one of those too on the LD special, but ended up getting another 16" middy instead. It'll either go on my SIL's orphaned lower or be a spare .223 conversion upper for my Granddaughters AR22 when she gets older. 😁

I’ve built 3 other dissipators using barrels from spinta precision and they all run perfect. I did a lot of reading and didn’t read any issues with cycling. I shoot 69/75gr only and I load them all. So they’re not weak by any means. I’ll go shoot this one in a few days on my days off and check it. I’ll post a update then. 👌

Very nice!

Your Dissipator is much fancier than mine. It’s just an open-sighted, mid-length gas system upper on an Anderson lower.

I may go with a fixed stock on it, I’m still debating that possible swap. (It is basic black, not gray. I had to lighten the picture a bit and it faded the guns finish.)

Stay safe.

I’ve got the basically exact same thing still coming. I already had the psa upper ordered. So couple days ago I ordered the psa complete lower. Not sure what I’ll do with it. Maybe Christmas gift it

FWIW, BCM uppers are a thermo fit for the barrel extension , so yah, its gonna be tight.

Good lookin' build !

Most companies that build/sell Dissipator uppers use either a carbine or mid length gas system that is hidden under the handguards. They do this for better reliability with a wider variety of ammo. A 16" barrel with a rifle length gas system can be on the finicky side. The same goes for the original GAU/XM177 carbines with the 10" barrel and why it was changed to a 11.5" barrel with the XM177E2

20190411_125240.jpg here is the only picture I have of the one dissipator I built, in 458 socom. I hid a carbine length gas system under the grip, because there was no way I was going to get a 458 to reliably function with rifle gas and the parts I could make. It was really difficult to attach the front sight base since the barrel was too thin to pin, so I dimple drilled and used 4 setscrews in various locations. Worked like a charm. Miss that rifle...

Yes I once had a dissipator with a rifle gas system and 16 inch barrel. It would only function with 5.56, 223 didn't have enough pressure with the very short dwell time.

458 has something like 1/4 th the gas pressure of a 5.56 at the end of a rifle length gas system. So you can see why I didn't even try...

Well...I am getting ready for deer season on Saturday and the safe was open...so I thought I would take a quick picture of my Dissipator.

It is an amalgamation of things I like...A1 Stock, A2 Grip, C7 Upper with A2 aperture sight, A2 hand guards, a Colt side swing swivel, and of course the Dissipator barrel from PSA.
I have this on my CA registered AW lower, so i can have all the goodies and not break any laws. My magazine is from the 90's because we are is such poor state here in CA we have to treat them with lots of love. This thing shoots like a dream and satisfies my Planet of the Ape AR itch.

The lower AR in this picture is my Bushmaster Dissipator that I purchased during the 94 "ban". I had the barrel threaded after the ban sunsetted to install the bird cage. Thank goodness is doesn't have a bayonet stud.

Yeah good thing since a bayonet lug is such an evil feature, especially on a rifle that one can not install a bayonet on like a dissipator.

A dissipator setup definitely has an advantage over a 16" M4 clone when using iron sights due to the longer sight distance.
