Yea, but that doesn't level the scope, it still has to be leveled before/as you tighten down the rings. And yes, some rings/how some people tighten rings, can move the scope off of level.

Could be slightly buckled a hair at the crimp, and the M-14 may have tighter chambers than the 586........just guessing.

That part is easy, no doubt, but the scope is round and can be mounted with a cant as easy as 1, 2, 3.....

I'm not there yet, but have a lot of arthritis already, getting wrist surgery on the off hand side Tuesday. Hope that goes well. While I am one handed it will be mostly revolver shooting I imagine. Anyway, for when the time comes I can't manage an auto I have a couple of options already. .32...

If you are only going to shoot prone or off of a bench, and especially reaching out there, the 24" is the way to go. If you are going to be walking around with it a lot.......but a walking around gun/long distance gun have so little in common......
