It’s a shame her parents named her that…
About 20 years ago a friend of mine let me shoot his Henry 1860 for a few stages in a SASS match. It was in the 90’s but not humid. The first stage I fired with it the rifle was resting on a table in the sun. The stage called for 6+ shotgun then 10 shots...
That’s interesting…and cool! Thanks. I no longer need supplies for 38-55. I sold it nearly 10 years ago.
Actually, the rifle itself didn’t seem overly heavy until 2 shoulder surgeries in 2012. It did have a long octagon barrel. Shooting it with 38-55 was quite nice. It was a very precise...
Questions you need to ask:
Is it chambered for the new spec 38-55 or the old spec’d 38-55?
What is the bore diameter?
I am going by memory here:
I would ask because if it’s chambered and rifled for the older specs you’d need .380” bullets, not the .376” bullets. Also I am pretty sure RCBS used...

It took me a while but I found the photos I was looking for.
Wadcutter loads with Universal. I just posted this because I found it.
W244 in .45 Colt rounds. Very sooty.
W244 in .38 Special Wadcutter loads. 2.6gr of W244 under a 148gr HBWC. This is a fun load.
Nickel cases are great for leaving in your revolvers or the chamber of a semiauto loaded for an extended period. But, after their short lives when reloading I don’t bother with them any more. I also do not reload cannelured brass for rifles.
Here’s a photo from when I tested W244 in .38 Special loads with 158 grain LRNFP bullets. I know I have some from my Wadcutter load development. If I can find one or two I will post them.
If you zoom in on the photo on the Heritage website you will see it’s definitely a Taurus. And…an added bonus…It appears they come with a factory turn line so you won’t have to worry about marring the cylinder finish on this bad boy. It’s factory pre-marred for you. ;)...
Love the “Roscoe” moniker. I have never called a revolver a Roscoe, but I recall watching old Cops & Robbers movies and shows as a kid and thought it was Prohibition Era slang.
I haven’t owned a Taurus. Maybe one of these might be my first. It does look all “Rosco-ish”.
I love revolver and target photos. It’s a nice touch.
@shoebox1.1 if you ever get a chance to try W244 in .38 Wadcutter loads you might like it. I use 2.6 grains under a 148gr HBWC from Bear Creek Supply and it’s a fun accurate load from all my .38 capable revolvers. The cases come...
I do think younger people are buying revolvers mostly for nostalgia. In the past few years I have had 20 - 30’ year old guys and especially girls show interest in my revolvers. Some have taken me up on my offer to let them shoot them.
I have always loved revolvers, even as a kid. I have owned...
