Mossberg lever action .30-30: Why discontinued?

Many of those Ruger's had mis fire problems, I don't think Ruger ever got the bugs out of them. They were too heavy too, I had a few of them and with the problems and weight I didn't like them.... DM

    The classic "Hardware" double barrel

My old double is a Remington my dad bought in the 40's for ten dollars... It's put tons of meat in our freezer since then! DM

Mossberg lever action .30-30: Why discontinued?

Henry already does that, in 357 mag... A revolver and lever rifle. DM

    Haenel bargain double rifle

Too bad Browning had no idea on how to properly regulate them, and those "lookers" were so poorly regulated. DM

    Haenel bargain double rifle

I owned a Krieghoff that had the "cocking slide" and it did of course take more effort than a sliding safety, but it wasn't a big deal and could easily be gotten used to. Actually, I like the idea. The REAL question is, if you fire one bbl. and then open the action to reload THAT bbl., does...

    Haenel bargain double rifle

It says it's "JS", if so, it's not a rimmed cartridge, personally I wouldn't want it... Also, it's single trigger, another mark against it, no thanks for sure... DM

    360 buckhammer ammo?

375 brass is much stronger through the web over 30-30 and I'd be surprised if the Buckhammer isn't too, as they both work with higher pressures than the 30-30. DM

Which bolt action .22 LR rifle would you recommend for accuracy from a bench or in the field?

Anschutz! May as well start out with something really good. DM

    .22 Rifle Accuracy

I would thoroughly clean the bore and THEN try different brands of ammo in it, DM

    Beloved 30-06 Anyone?

On a charging bear, if you don't hit the CNS with a .458, it doesn't do any better job than a properly loaded 30-06. IF you do hit the CNS, either one works just fine, DM

    Beloved 30-06 Anyone?

12 ga./30-06, I shot three nice bulls with it that day. It's very accurate, Over the years, it's put a lot of meat in my freezer. DM

    calling 22 hornet guys

I just used a primer and reversed the pellet flush with the case mouth. I've had several Hornets, never liked any of them including a really nice Winchester 54, so chambered. DM

    9.3x62 vs .375 h&h

"Properly loaded" anything from a 30-06 on up is a great rifle and cartridge for Alaska and master bear guide Phil Shoemaker always agreed with me, I settled on the .338-06 and over all the years I lived and hunted in Alaska, I never felt underguned hunting big bears, or taking anyone else...
